Can I use Vokabulo on my computer or Android phone?

Vokabulo is not only an iPhone and iPad app. It also runs in any up-to-date browser, so you can use it on a Windows PC, a Mac, a Chromebook, an Android phone or an Android tablet. There is nothing to download.

Getting started

Open Vokabulo in your browser and choose Set up my free account. The setup is the same as in the app: your languages, your proficiency, then your account.

Already using Vokabulo on your iPhone? Choose I already have an account and sign in the same way you did there, with Apple, with Google or with the same email address. You land in the same account, with all your words.

Installing it

On Android, and in Chrome or Edge on a computer, Vokabulo offers to install itself. Install puts it on your home screen or in your dock, and from then on it opens full-screen, like an app.

On Android the installed app also shows up when you share text from another app, so a word you find in the browser or in a message goes straight into New word. Press and hold its icon for two shortcuts: Study and New word.

One account on every device

Sign in with the same account everywhere, and your words, your progress and your streak go with you. A word you catch on your phone is waiting on your laptop a moment later, and a session you finish in the browser counts toward the same streak.

What stays with the iPhone and iPad app

Words, Study, Scenes, Sets and your settings all work in the browser. A few things need the native app:

• The widget and the Lock Screen: the Home Screen widget, the Lock Screen countdown and the running session on your Lock Screen.
• Study reminders: you can set the time in the browser, but the notification arrives on your iPhone or iPad.
• Pro Family: it can only be bought in the App Store.

Hands-Free Mode needs speech recognition from the browser. Chrome on Android has it; other browsers may not.
