How do the levels work?

Short answer

Every word shows a level from 0 (new) to 5 (mastered), based on how firmly you know it. Right answers push its next review further out, up to a year. A wrong answer brings it back within minutes and starts it low again.

Every word in your collection carries a level from 0 to 5. It shows how firmly the word sits in your memory, and that decides how long Vokabulo waits before asking again:

Level 0: not studied yet
Level 1: due again within a few days
Level 2: about 3 to 6 days
Level 3: about 1 to 2 weeks
Level 4: about 2 to 4 weeks
Level 5, Mastered: a month or more
Got it right?: The word waits longer before its next review, up to a full year. A word you clearly know can skip a level.
Struggled?: The word comes back for another look within about 10 minutes. Once you get it right, it starts low again, usually at Level 1, and climbs a little more slowly than before.

Every word moves at its own pace. Easy words drift far into the future, while tricky words keep circling back until they stick, so your study load stays sustainable as your vocabulary grows.

The intervals decide when a word is due. To keep your sessions from running dry, Vokabulo may occasionally show a word a little before it’s technically due, prioritising the words closest to needing review.

Getting one of those early cards right leaves its level and its due date untouched, so an early session can never rush a word up a level.
