What do the icons on the Words screen do?

Short answer

The magnifier searches and the flag switches language pair. Below them sit your word count, `Select` for bulk mode and `Filter` for tags, levels and usage labels, and under those the field you type a new word into.

  • Magnifier (top right): Search your collection. The search runs across words, context sentences and tags.
  • 🇪🇸 Language flag (top right): Shows the pair you are working on. Tap it to switch to another language pair.
  • Word count: Above the list on the left: how many words the current filter and search leave visible, not the whole pair. Tap it to jump back to the top of the list.
  • Select: The blue word on the right of the same row. It puts the list into bulk selection mode so you can manage several words at once.
  • Filter: Next to it, with a small three-line glyph. It opens the Filter sheet, which narrows the list by tag, by level and by usage label. Once something is on it reads Filter · 2, counting the criteria rather than the words. A search term is not counted.
  • The word field: Below that row, above the list. This is where you add a word. It is hidden while you are selecting or searching, and comes back when you are done.

Long-press a word card and a short menu appears with Share Word, Tags and Delete, so a single word no longer has to go through bulk selection. The menu is off while you are selecting.
